Alabama Land Trust, Inc. protects more than 60,000 acres of private land in Alabama with conservation easements. This map denotes by dots Alabama Land Trust-held conservation easements in the state and shows concentrations of easements in the ridge and valley area of northeast Alabama and in the rich Alabama black belt area. With more than 140 conservation easements in Alabama, Alabama Land Trust protects more private land in Alabama than any other known conservation group working in the state.

A nonprofit 501(c)(3) conservation organization headquartered in Piedmont, Ala., Alabama Land Trust is dedicated to protecting land for present and future generations, primarily by helping private landowners establish conservation easements on family and investment lands. Alabama Land Trust, Inc. and its affiliate organizations, including Georgia Land Trust, Inc. and founding organization The Chattowah Open Land Trust, Inc., permanently safeguard more than 172,000 acres of land with more than 480 conservation easements in our service area, thereby protecting more private land than any other regional conservation group in the southeast.

Alabama Land Trust-managed easements provide permanently protected riparian buffers in most of Alabama’s watersheds, including the Black Warrior, Tombigbee, Coosa, Tallapoosa, Sipsey and Cahaba rivers.
